As much as I don't like the cooler winter months, there is something so cozy and comforting about snuggling up with warm blankets and a hot fire burning in the wood stove. I shared my whole home for the Farmhouse Christmas Tour in my last post, but I wanted to share a few more photos of my bedroom today for the Joyful Holiday Home Tour. There are seven other homes on this tour and they are all amazing, so be sure to check out the links at the end of this post! I kept my Christmas decor … [Read more...]

What I’m Into Winter 2016
Hi friends! I thought it would be fun to start sharing my favorite things on a monthly or quarterly basis. If I only end up doing this just once, please forget I ever said this will be a regular post. Since I have never done anything like this, I don't know if I even have new favorite things every month. Time will tell. Shop the Christmas Trees Home 1. Knit throw blankets- the temps are getting chilly, so snugly blankets are a must. I love white cable knit throws for their cozy texture and … [Read more...]
Simple Ways to Add Farmhouse Style to Any Kitchen
My dream is to live on a small farm, down a gravel road, that is off another gravel road. I want there to be chickens running all over the place and no chance we would ever see a car drive by. But, alas, we do not live out in the middle of nowhere, and, I must admit, the convenience of living in town is pretty nice. But, I still want my kitchen to feel like we are living my farmhouse dream. I want the heart of our home to simple, inviting and cozy. Here are a few ways I like to … [Read more...]
Homemade Superfood Chocolate
Learn how to make homemade chocolate, that is both healthy AND delicious! I don't write about it much on here, but I am a total health nut. I research and read books on the subject constantly. When I am sewing farmhouse pillows, folding laundry or doing dishes I almost always have one earbud in my ear listening to audio books, interviews or lectures on gut health. Three books that have had a strong impact on me lately are "Gut and Psychology Syndrome" by Natasha Campbell, "Body … [Read more...]
A Farmhouse Bedroom Makeover- Part 4 Lamps and Nightstands
Hello friends! Last time I talked to you about our farmhouse makeover in Part 3 I was still waiting on night stands, bedside lamps, a chandelier and an antique wardrobe that is hanging out in our garage, waiting to be redone. If you remember, I started this whole transformation back in May with Part 1 . I had a cherry colored bedroom set, from Ashley Furniture, that totally didn't fit my style. Over the past five months, I have sold the old bedroom set, purchased my iron bed from … [Read more...]
Almost Free DIY Boxwood Wreath
Well, the time had finally arrived. I ran inside and grabbed a few wire hangers out of the closet. I collected all the dried boxwood clippings from around the house and grabbed my floral wire. First, I bent the hanger into a circular shape and secured it with floral wire. The circle definitely wasn't perfect, but the boxwood leaves hide the imperfections. Next, I made little bundles of clippings and secured them to the hanger, working all the way around the circle. I'm trying to … [Read more...]

A Review of Our IKEA Quartz Countertops
We purchased IKEA countertops for our farmhouse kitchen renovation. They were the most affordable stone countertop option that I could find, and they had the light and bright color options that I wanted for the fresh farmhouse look. Choosing Countertops for our farmhouse kitchen renovation When I started my kitchen renovation last winter, I couldn't decide if I wanted to go with butcher block countertops, stone or laminate. I knew I wanted something neutral that would work well with my … [Read more...]
Milk Painted Dresser
In my last bedroom update post, I promised I would share a little about our blue dresser that we refinished. I found this piece on buy, sell, trade for 50 bucks and just had to have it. I though it would be a the perfect antique for my first attempt at milk paint. I was a little intimated by the milk paint process, since it comes in a powder form and needs to be mixed with water. After looking through just about every single milk painted piece on Pinterest I decided to … [Read more...]
My Farmhouse Mud Room
Hi Friends! Just when I thought the crisp cool days had settled in, the heat is back out in full force. I took advantage of it today, though, and took the kids to a friend's pool that is still open. I know there will be plenty of cool weather ahead, so I want to enjoy the heat while we can. Today I want to share a room that I don't often share. It may not be the most exciting room in the house, but It does serve many purposes. When you walk in the back door of our house, … [Read more...]

A Farmhouse Bedroom Makeover- Part 3
We have made a ton of progress on our bedroom makeover, and I am loving it so far! Everything feels so much lighter and brighter! It was a hassle selling all the old furniture, sleeping on the mattress on the floor for a month and having all of our clothes piled in the closet, with no dresser to store them in. But, I am so glad I did it! It just makes no sense to keep things around that you don't like. I don't know why I thought I had to be stuck with any and all items I acquired at … [Read more...]

I love Larabars because they contain so few ingredients. They are made with all real food, natural ingredients. But, they are quite expensive. Our Farmhouse in the Summer
Even though it is still technically spring, the summer weather has definitely set in. I have been taking the kids to the pool almost daily and spending plenty of time out in the garden. In the kitchen, I am cooking up things that are quick and easy because we are spending so much time outside of the house. In a few months I will be thinking casseroles, quick breads and pumpkin everything, but for now the kitchen is the last place in the house I want to be. The garden is loaded … [Read more...]
